The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has a key role in publishing standards for the geospatial industry. The OGC Standard is a document that establishes rules and guidelines for optimizing the interoperability of geospatial data and is created based on the consensus of OGC members. The OGC also maintains a formal relationship with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee TC211, which has led to the adoption of some OGC standards as ISO standards.
